castane lecca car accident
On average, there are around 6 million car accidents in the United States every year. After these accidents, most people find themselves wondering if they need an attorney in order to receive proper compensation. Even in minor fender benders, victims may need to acquire legal representation.  It’s overwhelming to handle your physical pain, financial stress and negotiate with insurance adjusters all on your own. Suppose you are injured in a car accident because of another driver’s negligence. In that case, it’s in your best interest to hire a car accident injury attorney to help with your injury claim.  After a car accident, the first thing you should do is call 911 and get the medical attention you require. After gathering proper evidence and speaking to witnesses, you should contact an experienced car accident attorney to learn the next steps you need to take in order to get compensation. There are many reasons you should speak to an attorney after your accident, from getting maximum compensation to ensuring you recieve proper medical care. Read more to find out what the benefits are.

Prove Liability For Your Injuries

One of the most challenging aspects of a car accident case is proving who is at fault for the accident. Negligent drivers are the ones responsible for paying for the damages. It can be complicated to try and prove another driver’s negligence by yourself without the proper legal knowledge.  Everyone will try and shift blame, and if you aren’t careful, you could accept fault for the car accident. You will significantly benefit from a strong, experienced attorney arguing on your behalf. One of the experienced attorneys at Castan & Lecca will know how to shift through all the evidence to determine who exactly is liable for your injuries.  Your attorney will investigate all the evidence necessary for determining liability, including:
  • The police report of the accident
  • Your medical records
  • Witness interviews
  • Consulting with medical experts
  • Reconstructing the scene of the accident

Determine What Your Injuries Are Worth

Without a car accident attorney, it’s hard to know what your injuries are worth and how much compensation to expect. Your attorney will help you determine the true value of your case. This includes:
  • Coverage for medical bills
  • Lost wages and future lost income
  • Pain and suffering
After an accident, injury pain, inability to work, and damage to your property make life difficult. Insurance companies will try to pay you as little as possible, but you deserve proper compensation. The full extent of your losses needs to be paid for. An attorney will pursue maximum compensation for your injuries to help you get back to living the life you had before your accident.

Negotiating Your Settlement

After a car accident, the insurance company will try to negotiate a settlement. While you may be tempted to accept the first offer they give you, it usually isn’t nearly enough for the pain and suffering you have endured. We don’t recommend negotiating with them by yourself unless you are okay with getting less compensation than you deserve.  Insurance adjusters try to pay you the smallest amount possible. They are very skilled at negotiating, and their job revolves around saving their company money. They will deny a valid claim if it means minimizing what they have to pay, or trick you into a statement where you accept responsibility for the accident.  Car accident attorneys, however, see through their tricks. The lawyers at Castan & Lecca have experience negotiating with insurance adjusters. We fight for our clients to ensure they receive fair compensation after a car accident.

Learn About Car Accident Laws

It’s unlikely you are a legal expert when it comes to car accidents. You will probably have many questions about how the law works regarding liability and damages after your accident.  While you could Google your questions, it’s much more beneficial to talk to a car accident attorney who is well-versed in personal injury laws rather than search through all the legal jargon yourself.  Our car accident attorneys are educated in personal injury law and can explain your case’s legal repercussions in a way you can comprehend. We will make sure you understand your case’s details and give you the best legal options possible in your particular situation.  There are mistakes you can make after a car accident that end up hurting your claim, and there are likely many laws and regulations that pertain to your legal situation that you wouldn’t know to look at without an attorney. Castan & Lecca will guide you through the process every step of the way, so you always know what’s going on in your case and how much compensation you should receive.

Meet Legal Deadlines

When dealing with a car accident case, you have many legal deadlines to be aware of. There is a statute of limitations, which is the time period in which you need to file your claim for it to be valid. Your insurance policy may also require you to tell them about the accident within a specific time frame.  Missing any significant deadlines after a car accident can be detrimental to your case and result in losing compensation. As the lawyers at Castan & Lecca, an experienced car accident attorney can help you meet the deadlines so your case runs smoothly.

Receive Proper Medical Care

After a car accident, you most likely have injuries that need medical care. If you lack health insurance, you may hesitate to recieve the medical attention you need. Your injuries may also leave you unable to work, putting more financial stress on you and your family.  Many lawyers work with doctors and other medical practices to help their clients seek medical care for their injuries. You don’t have to pay many of these medical professionals for your treatment until your case settles.  If you need help seeking medical care after your accident, the attorneys at Castan & Lecca can help point you in the right direction.
